Possible New Car

Edna has been good to us, but we are preparing for her death at any time, which is not comforting. No, Edna is not a friend, she is our white buick regal. I really can't remember where Rob got the name Edna, but it stuck. This past weekend Edna passed 180,000 miles. She chugs a lug when trying to make it up hills. I get worried, but Rob just calmly says to me, "she's like a grandmother pushing a cart up a big hill...she puffs and struggles a bit because she's old, but slowly, she will make it." So, we've been talking about finding a new car for months, but Edna has been doing okay so we kind of just put it off. We are now realizing that we had better start looking more seriously because if/when Edna dies and we are not ready for her to die, it's going to be stressful. Plus, we are planning to trade her in (as sad as it makes Rob to lose his first car) but we can't trade in a car that doesn't even run.

The car we've been looking into right now is the Nissan Versa. I think it's cute. It's small, but we compared last night and the interior is the same size as Edna's, the front and trunk are just much shorter. Figuring that we hardly ever use the trunk, it does not constitute as much of a loss. There is a versa hatchback which has a bigger trunk, and a sedan which is much cuter, so here is a pic of it.

I hope we can find a good deal on one. Preferably a deal on one in any color but white or tan. White would be prefered over tan though, just for the record. We haven't test driven any yet, but I really like the look of this car. It's small enough that it's cute and trendy, yet not too girly for Rob like a ford focus or vw jetta. But it isn't so small, like a toyota yaris or corolla that it makes you feel closed in, especially since I get claustrophobic in small cars easily and get sick. I've always wanted a foreign car, but living in Warroad, where no mechanics even close would look at foreign cars and parts were hard to get, it was never an option for my parents to get one, so we always had American cars. Edna is American made too. And the versa has a special transmission that is nonshifting, so that it offers a much smoother ride, and when going up hills it doesn't get shift-shocked. I like that. So soon it will be goodbye to Edna, and hello to new car (name yet to be decided).
